On July 6th the European Parliament adopted a resolution on Intersectional discrimination in the EU: socio-economic situation of women of African, Middle-Eastern, Latin American and Asian descent. The resolution started as an own initiative report (Rule 52 of the Rules of Procedure) and can be seen as an important precursor to binding EU legislation.<\/p>\n

In the report, the European Parliament addresses many different aspects of structural forms of discrimination which racialized women face within the EU. It emphasizes the importance of positive measures in order to achieve fair representation<\/strong> in all areas of democratic decision<\/strong> making and the working life.<\/p>\n

It also demands for an intersectional perspective in all policy making and legislation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
